COVID-19 Update for Tourism Eastland Members

Kia ora Tourism Eastland members,

No doubt you have been swamped with messages about Covid-19 and your business has already been impacted. Your executive just want to reassure you that we are here for you and we will get through this together. First and foremost is the importance of looking after yourselves and your families over the next few weeks & months and checking on those around you. A new website is available for direct up-to-date information, www.covid19.govt.nz   please check it out.

Hauora Tairawhiti is well prepped with their planning and resourcing in preparing for any possible future changes. The prime focus is on everyone using necessary hygiene techniques and should you need for your business, there are factsheets and posters available from the MOH website.

Despite the anxiety which Covid-19 has brought, it is important to stay calm and maintain business as usual as much as possible. We all understand this is particularly hard for vulnerable people in our communities.

Please carefully the NZ Government announcement for businesses affected by Covid-19. This includes:

  • Wage subsidies with any business faced with staff redundancies or suffering a loss of income due to reduced business. This applies to employers, self-employed, sole traders and contractors.

  • Leave payment for anyone needing to self-isolate, who can’t work being sick or if caring for dependants who are required to self-isolate or are sick with Covid-19

Consequently, you can now seek assistance for a wage subsidy or leave payment. Find out more  HERE.

Apply as an employer HERE or as a self-employed worker HERE.

Your Tourism Eastland Executive are here to advise and assist in any way so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are concerned about anything or want to let us know something.
